The U.S. Marine Corps has returned its MV-22 Osprey aircraft on Okinawa to flight status nearly four months after a deadly crash off Japan grounded all tiltrotors in the U.S. and Japanese militaries.
Osprey pilots and air and maintenance crews with the 3rd Marine Airwing are training with MV-22 Ospreys again after the tiltrotor aircraft was grounded for three months.
The Air Force said Tuesday that investigators have determined a parts failure occurred during an Osprey crash in Japan in November that killed all eight airmen on board, but the root cause of the crash is still unknown.
