PHOENIX â A local artist is using her love of drawing to recreate the sites around her and at the same time, making lifelong memories along the way.
Aileen Martinez first starting drawing on notepads to document her travels.
âI like that youâre able to capture an image of life and then days or years or months later, go back to it and just remember where you were,â she said.
On Saturday, 60 artists will have their work on display in the yards of homes in central Phoenix’s Coronado neighborhood.
The Coronado Art Crawl takes place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 10. Community members can walk, bike or drive through the neighborhood and purchase art at various homes.
The event was created last year by resident Juston Daniels to help artists continue to sell work while art galleries were closed, and art events were canceled due to the pandemic.
Hosted in the spring and just before Christmas, the event began with just eight artists but has grown substantially.
