A group of nine military veterans – three Green Berets, two Navy Seals, two generals and former members of the Air Force – walked US Route 1 s route through South Carolina from Nov. 8-11, 2023 to raise awareness and money to help stop the epidemic of veteran suicides. Two of the Green Berets, Lowell Koppert and Chris Cathers, donated $8,554.76 of the money they raised to the Aiken-Barnwell Recovery Foundation Friday to help address mental health issues for veterans and others struggling with them.
