Sensitive polling stations to have CCTV cameras

KCR land be vacated in collaboration with PR, instructs chief secretary CCTV cameras will be installed at highly sensitive polling stations during the upcoming by-polls in Umerkot, Malir, Sanghar and Tharparkar, decided a meeting presided over by Sindh chief secretary Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah on Thursday. The by-polls are scheduled between January 18 and February 21. Provincial election commissioner Aijaz Anwar Chohan told the meeting, which was convened to review security and others arrangements for the by-polls, 50 polling stations out of 128 were highly sensitive in Umerkot, where by-polls would be held on January 18. Following this, the meeting decided to install CCTV cameras at those stations.

Chief Secretary Sindh reviews security, arrangements for by-elections Karachi, January 07, 2021 (PPI-OT): An important meeting was held at Sindh Secretariat under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Sindh Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah here on Thursday. The meeting reviewed security and other administrative arrangements for the by-elections to be held in Umerkot, Malir, Sanghar and Tharparkar from 18th January to 21st February 2021. The meeting also discussed matter of encroachment at lands of KCR and government agencies in the province. The meeting was attended by the Provincial Election Commissioner Aijaz Anwar Chohan, Senior Member Board of Revenue Qazi Shahid Pervaiz, All administrative Secretaries, All Divisional Commissioners, AIG Karachi Ghulam Nabi Memon, Administrator KMC and all Deputy Commissioners of Sindh.

Arrangements for PS-52 by-poll reviewed - Newspaper

UMERKOT: Provincial Election Commissioner Aijaz Anwar Chohan on Monday held a meeting with the district returning officers (DROs), returning officers (ROs), and other subordinate officials to review the arrangements for the PS-52 Umerkot-II by-election scheduled for January 18. The by-election was to be held on April 15 for which all arrangements were finalised but had to be postponed on March 23 on account of Covid-19 pandemic outbreak in the country. Mr Chohan told the meeting that all 12 candidates whose names were to appear on the ballot paper were in the race. He said that a total of 4,237 polling booths were set up at 128 polling stations in the constituency. There are a total of 154,187 eligible voters in the constituency.
