Second Republic lawmaker from Kano State, Dr Junaid Mohammed, is dead.
Mohammed, who trained as a medical doctor, died on Thursday in Kano, SaharaReporters has gathered.
His brother, Dr Ahmed Salik, a former lecturer with the Bayero University Kano and a former member of the House of Representatives, confirmed his death.
Unconfirmed sources, however, said he died at an isolation centre. His burial is expected to be announced by the family soon.
Minister of Investment and Trade, Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo and other sympathizers visited the deceased s house in Kano to sympathize with the family.

A 2nd Republic lawmaker and popular government critic, Dr. Junaid Mohammed, has died at the age of 71,
The PUNCH has learnt.
Junaid, who was the Vice-Presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party in the last election, was said to have died in his home state of Kano on Thursday.
A brother of the deceased, Ahmed Salik, confirmed the death to
DAILY NIGERIAN on Thursday night, saying the funeral would hold on Friday morning.
Junaid who studied medicine in the defunct United Socialist Soviet Republics, in the 1970s, served in the House of Representatives during the 2nd Republic until the National Assembly was dissolved by the Muhammadu Buhari-led military junta in 1983.
The deceased’s son, Suleiman who confirmed the death, said Junaid died on Thursday night at the age of 73 after an unnamed illness which lasted for three days.

The nephew of the deceased, Salisu Mohammed, told SaharaReporters about the burial arrangement of the former lawmaker slated for 2:00 pm on Friday.

The late Second Republic lawmaker representing Kano, Dr. Junaid Mohammed, will be laid to rest on Friday afternoon (today), according to the Islamic rites at Farm Centre Cemetery, in Tarauni, Kano State.
The final burial prayers will be performed by 2:00 pm on his remains at Alfur’qan Juma’t Mosque in the same ancient city of Kano.
