Muscat: The Supreme Committee tasked with tackling developments resulting from coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic held a media briefing at the Diplomatic Club on Monday where editors from Oman News Agency (ONA), Oman TV and other mass media received updates. Dr. Abdullah Nasser Al Harrasi, Minister of Information, member of the Supreme Committee, said that His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik formed the COVID-19 Supreme Committee at an early stage of coronavirus’s outbreak at a global level. He noted that the Supreme Committee took prompt action to safeguard public health, namely by issuing decisions aimed to curb the spread of the virus and keep it in minimum levels in Oman.

Health promotion strategy strengthens community partnership, integration of all sectors Wednesday 07/April/2021 17:27 PM By: ONA Muscat: The Sultanate, represented by the Ministry of Health, in cooperation with the GCC Health Council, launched the health promotion strategy codenamed “prevention project .  The inauguration, held via video-conferencing on Wednesday, was held in the presence of Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Al Sa eedi, Minister of Health, Dr. Mohammed Saif Al Hosni, Undersecretary of the Health Ministry for Health Affairs with the participation of Sulaiman Al Dakheel, Director Manger of the GCC Health Council Al Sa eedi gave a speech saying that the strategy has been launched according to the GCC Health Vision, the common integration principles and cooperation among the GCC countries. The prevention strategy is also adopted within Oman Health Vision 2050 and the Five-Year Health Plan (2020-2025). It aims at promoting primary healthcare.

The second dose is being given to the target segments that received the first dose of the Pfizer-bionNTech vaccine over the past few weeks in different parts of the Sultanate. After receiving the second dose of the vaccine against COVID-19 at Bausher Polyclinic, Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Al Sa’eedi, Minister of Health, reaffirmed that no side-effects were reported among recipients of the first dose, noting that the number of doses stood at 38,900.
