Israeli-Palestinian Clashes Escalate In Ramadan Night Violence At Al-Aqsa Mosque By Daniel Estrin  May 7, 2021 Weeks of sporadic violence between Israelis and Palestinians in Jerusalem intensified on Friday evening at a sacred religious site for Muslims and Jews, as the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan nears. Israeli police in riot gear confronted crowds of Muslim worshippers at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, one of Islam’s holiest sites. Worshippers threw rocks and chairs at police, who fired rubber-coated bullets and stun grenades. Palestinian medics said more than 20 Palestinians were hospitalized, most with injuries to the eyes and the face. There were reports of many more people with less serious injuries. The Palestinian Red Crescent emergency service said 136 people were wounded in clashes, the Associated Press reported; Israel said six police officers were injured.

Get email notification for articles from Nir Hasson Follow May. 8, 2021 3:03 PM Israel Police have arrested at least 15 Palestinians in East Jerusalem raids on Saturday afternoon according to Palestinian activists, one day after 205 Palestinians and 17 police officers were injured in violent clashes that garnered international condemnation.  The police have been arresting young Palestinians and activists since early Saturday morning, according to the activists.  Both the IDF and the police are bolstering their presence in East Jerusalem. This comes after the heads of IDF and the police held a situation assessment meeting on rising tensions in the city. The police estimate that clashes between Israeli security forces and Palestinians will continue tonight and in the coming days. 

Egypt, Arab League condemn Israel s role in Al-Aqsa Mosque clashes

CAIRO: Egypt’s Foreign Ministry and the Arab League have condemned Israeli forces’ involvement in violent clashes outside Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. More than 160 Palestinians and at least six Israeli police officers were injured in a series of confrontations at the mosque late on Friday.
