The UAE is to trial the Sinopharm vaccine in children between the ages of 3 and 17 to study their immune response.
The Department of Health Abu Dhabi approved the study and it will be conducted under the supervision of the Ministry of Health and Prevention, the Abu Dhabi Media Office reported on Thursday.
The trial will
monitor the immune response to the vaccine in 900 youngsters of different nationalities in preparation to roll out a major vaccine drive soon, authorities said.
The study is in line with the UAE’s long-term recovery plan, which is based on vaccinating 100 per cent of the targeted groups by end of 2021. The study’s preliminary results will be announced once available and will support planning for the safe return to schools. مكتب أبوظبي الإعلامي (@admediaoffice)
