The City of Hoover on Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2019, unveiled two new signs honoring the memory of Mike Gilotti, who was shot to death in his Lake Cyrus community on Jan. 5, 2016. In May, according to city officials, the state legislature passed a resolution and Gov. Kay Ivey signed that resolution allowing for the Alabama Highway 150 bridge to be named after Gilotti.

A Jefferson County jury in 2018 found Ahmad Jaquan Johnson not guilty in Gilotti’s slaying.
Johnson did plead guilty to a reduced charge of reckless endangerment stemming from an incident that happened in the days before Gilotti’s shooting death on Jan. 5, 2016.
