In the latest campaign against the military regime, blue-shirted protesters posted photos with a raised hand displaying the name of a detainee abducted since the Feb. 1 coup. The blue shirts commemorate the renowned pro-democracy activist and journalist U Win Tin who spent 19 years in prison for his opposition to the former military regime. He died on April 21, 2014. U Win Tin kept his blue prison shirt after his release and pledged to wear a blue shirt every day until all political prisoners were released. He wore the color until his death.

Soldiers and police raided the Tet Lann Hospital in South Okkalapa Township on Tuesday, and the Asia Royal Hospital in Sanchaung Township on Sunday. On March 18, they fired shots at the SSC Women’s Center in Bahan Township. Military personnel and police broke into the Tet Lann Hospital at around 2 a.m. on Tuesday and beat security guards and cleaners working there. They also threatened doctors at gunpoint and searched patient wards before deleting CCTV records.

On Wednesday, the agreement was signed by Electric Power Generation Enterprise, which is controlled by the Ministry of Electricity and Energy, and TTCL Power Myanmar Company Limited, a subsidiary of Thailand’s TTCL Public Company Limited. TTCL is a joint venture between Italian-Thai Development Public Company Limited, which holds a 52-percent stake, and Japan’s Toyo Engineering Corporation, which holds the remaining 49 percent.
