Manteca man among 10 indicted by feds in deadly fentanyl-trafficking bust

A Manteca man is among 10 in federal custody after indictments were handed down in a massive drug-smuggling operation suspected in a number of overdoses and deaths in the Northern California region, the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Sacramento has announced. Rudi Jean Flores, 27, of Manteca, was among those indicted last week by a federal grand jury in connection with the operation, which allegedly funneled tens of thousands of fentanyl-laced counterfeit oxycodone pills from Mexico into the United States, according to U.S. Attorney McGregor Scott of the Eastern District of California. Federal agents seized more than 20,000 of the counterfeit tablets that contained the deadly drug fentanyl as part of a high-level Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces operation involving multiple agencies, Scott said in a news release.
