The Anambra State Police Command has beefed up security in Isuofia, the community of Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, a former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) who was attacked at a political gathering on Wednesday, March 31.
The Street Journal had earlier reported that three police details attached to Soludo were shot after a duel with the attackers who later carted away their arms at the Isuofia Civic Centre in Aguata Local Government Area.
According to Toochukwu Ikenga, the Police Public Relations Officer in Anambra, Monday Kuryas, the Police Commissioner has visited the scene of the incident for an on the spot assessment.

Chukwuma Soludo, a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has narrated the attack on his entourage on Wednesday in Anambra State.
DAILY POST reports that gunmen opened fire during a town hall meeting he attended at the Isuofia community in Aguata Local Government Area.
Three of his police guards were murdered; the incident sparked outrage.
He told Channels Television’s Politics Today that the incident lasted “10 or 15 minutes of continuous gun battle”.
The economist recalled that he was about to wrap up the meeting and request comment from those in attendance.

AFTER long expectation by members of the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, and other stakeholders in Anambra State, the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Professor Charles Soludo has finally declared his intention to contest the November 6, 2021 governorship election in Anambra State.
Soludo’s name began to make the round as the likely successor to Obiano for more than two years, but he had not come out to say he was interested in the race, until Thursday when he visited the headquarters of APGA in Awka.

Ekwulobia (Anambra), Dec. 30 2020 Mrs Chinyere Okonkwo, has been honored with the community title of Ugogbe Umunwanyi (Mirror of women) by Ihuokpala village of Ekwulobia, Aguata Local Government area of Anambra.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports on Wednesday that Okonkwo was honored by her kinsmen because of her fight for gender equality.
NAN also reports that Okonkwo is a midwife who rose to the rank of matron, and a teacher who has trained, empowered women and stood up for the equality of all genders in her community and beyond.
In a homily to celebrate the ceremony, the officiating priest, Rev. Father Christopher Ezeonu, urged Christians, especially women to always live a life that would make others proud of them anywhere they found themselves.
