BRICK - Days after Brick s farmers market opened for the 2021 season, Brick s mayor asked the state Department of Agriculture to reconsider outdoor mask mandates for farmers, venders and market customers.
Mayor John G. Ducey, in a letter to state Agriculture Department Secretary Douglas H. Fisher this week, said Brick Township has enforced safety measures throughout the pandemic, but that each farmers market host should be permitted to determine mask rules based on their event setup. As a successful, safe host of a tremendously popular farmers market, we expected the opportunity to make rules and modifications for 2021 based on the number of cases in our community, the event s setting, the length of the event, the number and crowding of people…, and the behavior of attendees at the event, Ducey wrote to Fisher.
