Man kills self, two others die in accidents

A man committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at his house located in the New Karachi neighbourhood, police officials said on Sunday.
Following the incident, police and rescuers reached the house and took the deceased to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for completing the medico-legal formalities. He was identified as 50-year-old Akram, son of Amrao.
Citing the initial investigation, police said the man had committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan over family and financial problems, adding that further investigation was under way.
Separately, a woman identified as 54-year-old Musarrat, wife of Saeed, died after falling down the stairs of her house located in Lyariâs Agra Taj Colony. She was taken to the Civil Hospital Karachi.

Police foil attempt to kidnap woman, arrest two suspects

Police on Thursday claimed to have foiled a bid to kidnap a woman in Hyderi and arrested two suspected kidnappers.
Police said two men entered a bank, where the woman worked, and the three walked out of the bank. Later, the men grabbed and threw the woman, Tanzila, into a hi-roof van from outside the bank. The bank manager immediately informed the police on helpline 15 and a search operation started.
The police traced the van at Shafiq Morr, recovered the woman, and arrested two suspects. According to Gabol Town SHO Roshan, one of the arrested men, Omair, was Tanzilaâs coaching friend. He had sent a marriage proposal to her a few days ago, but the family had turned it down.
More businesses sealed, SOP violators fined over Rs20,000

Another six shops and a supermarket have been sealed over non-compliance with the government-issued standard operating procedures (SOPs) to thwart the local transmission of the novel coronavirus, while more than Rs20,000 have been collected in fines from different violators.
On the orders of District South Deputy Commissioner Irshad Ali Sodhar, the assistant commissioner for Aram Bagh and the Mukhtiarkar for Civil Lines took action against violators of the Covid-19 SOPs on Monday and Tuesday.
The details shared by the District South deputy commissionerâs office stated that on Monday the Civil Lines Mukhtiarkar sealed two shops in the Saba Commercial neighbourhood of DHA as well as fined a few shopkeepers and their customers for not wearing masks.
