Telecom equipment major HFCL has won a Rs 221 crore order from the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation for setting up telecommunication systems for the Kanpur and Agra metro projects. According to the order details, HFCL will set up the telecommunication systems for 32.4 km (corridors one and two) of Kanpur Metro and 14 km (corridor one) of Agra Metro projects. The telecommunication system work for the metro projects will be completed in the next 33 months.
Part of the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation, the Agra Metro network will connect major tourist attractions such as Agra Fort, Taj Mahal, Sikandra with the city s other main modes of transport such as the railway station and bus stands. The construction of the Agra Metro project was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in December 2020.

The Transportation Infrastructure business of L&T Construction has secured an order to extend the mainline corridor of the Mauritius Metro by 3.4 km from Metro Express Limited (MEL), Mauritius.
The project involves the construction of a fully integrated light rail based Urban Transit System from Rose Hill Interchange towards Ebene reaching Reduit near the University of Mauritius. This extension will connect the densely populated areas of Ebene Cybercity and the University of Mauritius and give added impetus to the development of the island nation.
