Premium Content Roadworks are underway to upgrade a major Agnes Water and 1770 thoroughfare. In a general meeting on April 6, Gladstone Regional Council voted unanimously to enter a contract with Fulton Hogan Industries to complete asphalt overlay works on Captain Cook Drive, from Agnes Water to 1770. The roadworks will consist of sealing exposed pavement areas, profiling edges and milling unsuitable pavements. The offer made by Fulton Hogan Industries for $914,452.57 will be fully funded by Works for Queensland funding. Drug offences continue to be the most prolific crime encountered by police in the Gladstone Local Government Area, as overall crime trends decline in the region.
The most current data up to March 15 for the Gladstone Local Government Area (LGA) shows there were 1177 offences committed since December 16, 2020, over the past quarter.
The data reveals local police are getting on top of crime in the region, with 1324 offences committed in the quarter from September to December 2020.
A reduction in the number of drug offences from 289 between October and December 2020, to 216 in the recent quarter to March 15, 2021, is testament to this crime reduction.
The projects include $178,000 for additional mobile firefighting equipment in Bundaberg, $132,000 for a 2.5km upgrade of walking tracks in Joseph Banks Conservation Park and $1,612,000 replacement of Timber Bridge on Bindaree Road in Miriam Vale. Identified by their large, cube shaped body, box jellyfish have been involved in at least 70 deaths in Australia.
