Parents urged to speak Chamorro at home
SAIPAN, CNMI (Marianas Variety, Aug. 20, 2008) – Parents should aggressively promote Chamorro at home even as the language is also taught in schools, according to Department of Community and Cultural Affairs Rota Resident Director Lourdes Manglona. If they lose their language, they will lose their identity, she said.
DCCA on Rota is conducting programs to promote the Chamorro and Carolinian languages especially to the young generation, to allow them not only to appreciate these languages but to also help preserve them, she added.
