Spalding secondary schools overwhelm foodbank volunteers with donations  | Updated: 12:32, 22 December 2020 This year’s Spalding Guardian Christmas Foodbank Appeal is on course for a new record for donations after the amazing efforts of students and staff at several schools. More than 1,850 items donated by students and staff at Spalding High School were delivered to The school held its seventh annual Bring A Tin Day in support of the charity on Friday and headmistress Michele Anderson said: This year the school community came together and donated a staggering 1,857 items of food, ranging from basic essentials to Christmas treats. The Spalding Guardian is nearing the end of its tenth annual Christmas Foodbank Appeal.

South Holland authority finds new home for three rough sleepers  | Updated: 10:31, 21 December 2020 Three men who were once sleeping rough in South Holland have each been found a new home and job in the space of six weeks. Each of the men found themselves homeless after their relationships broke down, but a new and different partnership has helped turn their lives around. Change4 Lincs, a team set up to support rough sleepers in South Holland and three other areas of Lincolnshire, worked to find the men a new, permanent place to live and new employment after they were moved into temporary accommodation at the start of November.

Spalding-based Families Helping Families boosts Christmas Foodbank Appeal Published: 05:53, 13 December 2020 The first donations have arrived at the Spalding Guardian s office in town from readers who have responded generously to our annual Christmas Foodbank Appeal. Volunteers at Agapecare Foodbank Spalding, based at The Lighthouse Church in Haverfield Road, will be able to pack food hampers with items bought by readers for families facing a bleak festive season due to redundancy, low income or illness. Support for the town s foodbank has also been boosted by the efforts of four South Holland women who came together to form Families Helping Families and encourage people from across the area to help the less fortunate this Christmas.
