The Daniel 9:24-27 Project - Associates for Biblical Research

The Daniel 9:24-27 Project A Christian Apologetics Ministry Dedicated to Demonstrating the Historical Reliability of the Bible through Archaeological and Biblical Research. Research Topics The Daniel 9:24-27 Project Created: 13 December 2020 Where We’ve Been Except for my last article on the ABR website, “A Closer Look: Daniel 8:14 Re-examined,” most of the recent articles in the series have given special attention to various aspects involved in interpreting Daniel 9:25. Here are links to those articles, oldest first: Of particular interest at this special time of year is my article on “Pinpointing the Date of Christ’s Birth.” With over 27,000 hits on the ABR website, it is humbling to see how popular it has been, indicating it has been well received and shared with others. If you have never read it, may I encourage you to do so? Its conclusions were arrived at independently of the main research on Daniel, but are consistent with it.

Do We Speak Well of God? July 9, 2021 Anthony Costello In a recent lecture, theologian Kevin Vanhoozer described the task of theology very simply. Theology is “speaking well of God.” To my mind this phrase gets at the heart of the theological enterprise. On the one hand it is vague enough to leave needed wiggle-room. At the same time, it implicitly constrains the task of theologizing, since we understand what it means to speak badly of something, or someone. For example, clearly one can say too much about a thing. One can overstep one’s bounds or “put one’s foot in one’s mouth” by blathering on. Conversely, one can also fail to say enough about something, not speaking up when one should. In the first case, we can go beyond our knowledge base. We speculate too much about an object of inquiry. In the second, we deflate the base of knowledge we do have and not say something we should. Therefore,
