Las Vegas Raiders owner says widely criticized tweet after Derek Chauvin found guilty in George Floyd’s death won’t be deleted
Updated Apr 21, 2021;
The tweet, created by owner Mark Davis said, “I can breathe 4-20-21.”
Davis told The Athletic that the wording came from Floyd’s brother Philonise.
“Today, we are able to breathe again,” Philonise said.
The wording on the tweet, however, is the same as the “I Can Breathe” shirts that New York Police Department supporters wore following the 2014 killing of Eric Garner.
Davis told The Athletic that he wasn’t aware of that.
“I learned something,” Davis said. “I have to do a little bit more research into that just so I can speak coherently on that aspect.”
