PHILADELPHIA - The last time Washington faced Philadelphia, the quarterbacks were Dwayne Haskins and Carson Wentz, and the Eagles were the team with playoff expectations. It feels like five years ago, Washington offensive coordinator Scott Turner said.
Week 1 was 3 1/2 months ago, but everything has changed for the longtime division rivals going into the regular-season final. Haskins has been released; Wentz was benched for Jalen Hurts; Philadelphia is eliminated from playoff contention; and Washington stands on the verge of winning the NFC East if it can beat the Eagles on the road Sunday night.

“We understand the situation,” running back J.D. McKissic said. “You can just tell guys are laser focused out there (at practice). There’s not much talking and when there is, it’s about football. Guys are just ready to play.”
The Washington Football Team cut ties with Dwayne Haskins on Monday afternoon, a mere 20 months after taking Haskins in the first round out of Ohio State.
The release comes less than 24 hours after Haskins struggled and was benched for Washington in a Week 16 loss to the Panthers. In the past week, Haskins was involved with reported maskless attendance at a strip club, a $40K fine, being stripped of his WFT captaincy, being benched and now finally being released. Haskins officially goes on waivers following the Monday transaction.
In a statement, Washington coach Ron Rivera said, This afternoon I met with Dwayne and informed him that we would be releasing him. I told him that I believe it benefits both parties that we go our separate ways.

Table talk: By gameâs end, Amin and Schlereth had fun wondering if there were enough tables for Bills fans to jump on to break in celebration of the title. âGo ahead Buffalo, smash those tables,â said Schlereth after Singletaryâs touchdown gave the Bills a 48-19 lead in the final two minutes. Many Bills fans donât embrace that stereotype, which is getting as annoying as snow jokes.
Courageous is the wrong word: Schlereth noted that Broncos coach Vic Fangio said the one word that describes Allen is âcourageous.â Schlereth used it again later. I donât think any football player should be described that way for his play. Jim Kelly is courageous for his battle against cancer, not his Hall of Fame quarterback career.
