National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah accused BJP leader Gen (retd) V K Singh of hindering the revocation of AFSPA during UPA-2. Abdullah questioned Singh s opposition to revoking AFSPA, urging the Union home minister to address public movement issues on the Srinagar-Jammu highway and release J-K prisoners. Abdullah expressed concern that AFSPA promises may not be upheld post-elections.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday said the central government will consider revoking the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act in Jammu and Kashmir.
Amit Shah said the assembly elections will be held in J-K before September."Enshrining democracy in J&K is PM Modi's promise and it will be fulfilled. However, this democracy will not be confined to three families alone and will be a people's democracy," he said.
