Home Minister Amit Shah today said Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government has once again decided to decrease the jurisdiction of "disturbed areas" declared under the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, or AFSPA, in Nagaland, Assam and Manipur.
A law that gives sweeping powers to the military and protects soldiers from legal prosecution would be removed from disturbed areas only after a thorough investigation and observation, the centre has said.
