In Senegal, Bassirou Diomaye Faye has emerged as Africa’s youngest democratically elected leader. At only 44- years old Faye’s election was nothing short of a rollercoaster having been released from prison only 10 days before the polls opened.
The new executive branch includes 25 ministers and five secretaries of state, almost half of them from the ranks of PASTEF. The main surprise comes from the appointment of two military officers to regalian posts: the armed forces and the interior ministry.
