Final Call News
The continentâs largest journalist organization, the Federation of African Journalists (FAJ), recently called on the international community to hold Israel accountable for its crimes against journalists and media outlets during its recent attacks in Gaza and elsewhere in occupied Palestine.
The call came at a conference hosted by President Nana Akufo of Ghana. The conference was organized by the FAJ in collaboration with its affiliate Ghana Journalists Association.
âAgainst all the odds, we gathered in Accra to put our minds together as we reflect on and seek solutions to the precarious conditions in which African journalists operate and the thorny problems of media freedom and quality journalism. Beyond these traditional challenges, we now also face the sad reality of the Covid-19 pandemic killing journalists and throwing many into unemployment.

Leading African journalists have risen in unison to condemn the deliberate attempt by enemies of Qatar to distort facts and ‘manipulate journalists’ organisations in Africa to initiate a negative campaign against the 2022 FIFA World Cup which will be hosted by Qatar.
A statement issued after the African Journalists Leaders Conference in Accra, Ghana, delegates from
five regions of the continent, states as follows, “We, the delegates attending the African Journalists Leaders’ Conference under the auspices of the Federation of African Journalists (FAJ) and hosted by the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) have noted with dismay recent attempts by external elements from the United Arab Emirates who deliberately tried to manipulate journalists’ organisations in Africa to issue public statements or campaign against 2022 FIFA World Cup.”
