runs essay contest
The nonprofit Camp Pendleton Historical Society is running an essay contest focused on the base’s history open to undergraduate students enrolled at San Diego County colleges and universities. Essays should delve into the history of the land now known as Camp Pendleton. Essays can be up to 5,000 words and will be judged on historical accuracy, historical interest, organization and presentation. The first-place prize is $1,000; second place, $500. A letter of application for entry into the contest with name, address, school, area of interest and tentative title of essay must be submitted by March 1 to essaycontest.cphs@gmail.com, with “Essay Contest” in the subject line.
