Rift Valley Railways rubbishes negative press reports

Rift Valley Railways, the rail operator tasked by Uganda and Kenya and presently running the narrow-gauge railway system in both countries, from the port of Mombasa via Nairobi to the Ugandan border and on to Kampala, besides a refurbished side route to the Northern Ugandan town of Gulu, has made substantial progress in recent years. A period of intense shareholder troubles, initially spurred by South Africa’s Sheltam which started the company, eventually led to a near complete takeover by Egypt’s Qalaa Holdings, previously known as Citadel, which now holds 85 percent of the shares after Kenya’s TransCentury sold their shares to them.
