Today, the pressure finally told. The government caved to a backbench rebellion, announcing that it would relax Planning Permission for new onshore wind farms. Those changes will come into force immediately and will scrap a previous rule that allowed just one objection to a Planning Application for a new onshore development. The new measures will also allow communities to apply to their local council to have Wind Turbines in their area, although elected councillors will still make the final decision.
