The quake was felt over an area more than 1,000 kilometres (621 miles) wide by some 285 million people in Pakistan, India, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan and Turkmenistan, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre said.
According to the official report, the damaged and destroyed houses were located in the Jurm district of Badakhshan province and were lost due to the collapse of the roofs of the houses
The State Ministry for Natural Disaster Management under the caretaker Taliban regime reported that 63 houses had been destroyed and some cattle damaged were lost due to the powerful earthquake.
At least 10 people were killed and over 60 injured after flash floods and earthquake hit Afghanistan, Khaama Press reported citing the Taliban-appointed Department of Natural Disaster Management.
After residents of Delhi NCR experienced a powerful earthquake this week, it is likely that a stronger earthquake will hit parts of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand soon.
