Reporter last night, the City Council Acting as the Stadium Authority voted to terminate an agreement with the niners that allows them to manage the stadium for all events. The team would still get to manage nfl football games. Out of the 10 events, you have 6 moneylosing events. Thats their performance record. Reporter the city also claims the 49ers shorted contract workers by denying them prevailing wages. We cannot let any business commit the crimes of wage theft. Reporter the 49ers declined to be interviewed, but sent us a statement suggesting the battle is just beginning. Quote, the 49ers will continue to manage levi stadium. The citys announcement is just a step in the self destructive process they began years ago. All of those efforts failed, just as this latest attempt will also fail. No matter what our mayors do, for all of the good efforts that are made, unless we can get massive resources in our community, we are not going to be able to solve all the problems. And so there are voices who may agree and disagreen a and that fine. Disagreement as long as its constructive and intended to help move the process, it should be welcomed. Nobody ever said it would be comfortable. It has to be creative tension and out of that creative tension comes better partnerships. It sharpens our analysis and our thinking.
