TANZANIA (eTN) – Prominent Tanzanian human rights campaigner and activist, Dr. Edmund Sengondo Mvungi, died on Tuesday following serious injuries he suffered after a bandit attack in his home early this month amid security volatility in Tanzania’s capital city of Dar es Salaam.
Once a journalist then a law lecturer and Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Dar es Salaam, Dr. Mvungi played a leading role in campaigning for democratic changes in Tanzania, and was selected a member of the Constitution Review Commission (CRC) working to write a new constitution that will lead Tanzania to achieve its democratic leadership.
