lansing, michigan, where police are trying to figure out the motive for a mass shooting on the campus of michigan state university. three people have been killed. five others are hospitalized, in critical condition. oh, my god. akers dining hall? this was the scene as students fled when the shots rang out. the first 911 call came in at 8:18 p.m., local time. the officers were on the scene within minutes and located several victims. here s what some of the students told affiliate wxyz. we were locked in the rooms, and the guys were telling us to
students in the classroom running for their lives. we are now looking at at least eight law enforcement officers with long guns who are entering the school. reporter: three studenting killed, eight others shot, including a teacher. student john edwards describing the chaos to our affiliate wxyz. over the p.a. we hear our principal, mr. wolf, shouting, alice, lockdown, alice lockdown. and then we heard the gunshots in the class. and so we locked down turned the lights off. our teacher got paper taped over the window on the door and got his two big tables and barricaded the door. i was just scared. i was praying for, you know, my safety, my friend s safety. you know, everyone s safety. reporter: edwards able to call his mother. i could hear the fear in his voice. and i tell him, i said, baby i m on my way. i ve never been so scared in my life. reporter: school officials left reeling. i m shocked. it s devastating. reporter: the suspected shooter a 15-year-old sophomore at
governor seen taking surveillance footage of her vacation home. in this video, one of the suspects is showing off his cache of weapons. all this as the fbi and prosecutors have argued in court this week that the suspects should not be released pending trial because they re too dangerous. abc affiliate wxyz obtaining this police dash cam video, showing suspect brandon caserta pulled over on september 19th during a routine traffic stop. shortly afterwards, the fbi says, caserta allegedly sent texts to the group, one saying the end times are approaching for these piece of expletive cops. in this video posted on social media, caserta endorsing violence against the government. i m an anarchist. i m about to drop a bomb. defensive force is legitimate. reporter: but defense attorneys today claiming it was all, quote, big talk. we re talking about guys who want to run around in the woods
