ONWASA poured a glass of good news for consumers in Holly Ridge and surrounding areas as they did not find the man-made chemical per-and-polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) inside the two wells they previously shut down one week before.
The shutdown of the two wells was a precaution after the Department of the Navy announced the release of PFAS within one mile of the Dixon-10 and Dixon-11 wells located near Marine Corps Outlying Landing Field Camp Davis South. ONWASA shut down the wells one hour after being informed of the release.
“We are very pleased to have independent verification that PFAS was not found in our wells near Camp Davis South. The safety of our drinking water is our primary mission.” said ONWASA CEO Jeffrey Hudson.
