U.S. Deputy Marshal Frank Boardman Eaton, who was the inspiration for Pistol Pete, Oklahoma State University’s mascot, died 64 years ago, but his spirit lived recently as his family and 28 former Pistol Pete mascots were on hand as Eaton was inducted into the Hall of Great Westerners in the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum.
