Several large corporations have already taken steps to follow public guidelines, and this is helpful, but we know its not an option for many Small Businesses, most of whom survive month to month like many residents. A shutdown lasting weeks or even a slow down could mean the end of them or for them. In San Francisco, there are thousands of these Small Businesses employing hundreds of thousands of workers. Small businesses are the life blood of our neighborhoods and our communities, and we simply cant let them go under, so im working with the City Attorney and the Treasurers Office to create a Small Business rent stabilization loan to issue no interest loans to businesses who are unable to meet rent, mortgage, or other fixed operating costs.
