The Right Reverend Alexander Graham, who has died aged 91, was Bishop of Newcastle from 1981-97 and before that spent four years as Suffragan Bishop of Bedford.
MONEY: Ruth Wintle and Kevin Down TWO dedicated church members have received ‘Maundy Money’ from the Queen in recognition of their service to church and community over many years. The money is distributed by HM the Queen every Maundy Thursday and she is normally assisted by Bishop John in his role as Lord High Almoner. It is traditionally given to the same number of men and women as the monarch’s age, and recognises individuals for their Christian service. This year the Reverend Ruth Wintle, 89, member of St Thomas, Crown East in the Worcestershire West Rural Team and Kevin Down, 82, member of St George’s RC Church in Worcester, have received the money.
