It’s official. Perodua has announced that its much-anticipated ‘D55L’ SUV is now open for booking, at the same time releasing first details on the Daihatsu Rocky-based model. Known by its internal codename so far, the SUV’s real name is still under wraps (some are saying it’s Perodua Ativa), but we now know that the D55L will be available in three variants – X, H, AV – at prices estimated between
RM62,500 and RM73,400, on-the-road without insurance, with sales tax exemption.

The biggest car launch of 2021 is upon us – the new Perodua D55L SUV! This has been an open secret for a while now, that Perodua will be launching a new compact B-segment SUV, based on the Daihatsu Rocky and the Toyota Raize. Now, finally, it has been confirmed, and we have the preliminary details!
We’ll just list it out first – 1.0 litre turbocharged engine, CVT, an all-new DNGA platform, ASA 3.0 with AEB as standard across the range, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist and Level 2 semi-autonomous driving. All in a Perodua! As for the price, it ranges from

Like a cue to let loose, Perodua’s sales personnel are out in full force to win those bookings for the D55L SUV, which the order books were opened for today. They are armed with this leaflet, which appears to be a genuine flyer.

The same images have now appeared on Perodua’s website, but curiously without the Ativa name. Article updated with the new teaser images below.

If so, the car’s name is out, and the SUV we’ve known all this while by its D55L codename is the Perodua Ativa. What do you think of the name? Like it or not, this also means that the Kembara name will not be revived. “Activate Every Destination” is the tagline, although I can’t wrap my head around that one.
