Coronation Street actor Bill Roache has opened up on the harrowing storyline as his character Ken Barlow deals with son Peter Barlow s alcoholism.
Peter recently relapsed and his desperate family have been following him around trying to get him to stop drinking.
Ken even hands his picture around to off-licenses and bars but Peter still manages to find a way to get drunk.
Daniel Osbourne offered to give Peter his liver in a transplant if they are a match, so willing is he to help his friend.

Peter braces himself for the possibility that he may have to go on the transplant list, but as he leaves, another patient who s awaiting a transplant makes a dig about alcoholics.
Later on, Peter is stunned when his brother Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) offers to be his liver donor if he s a match.
Daniel is grateful for how Peter supported him when Sinead died, so now wants to return the favour.
Peter is horrified by the idea, and in light of the comment he heard earlier, insists that he s not deserving of a transplant as he only has himself to blame.
