Monday would have been Adrie Dembowske’s 14th birthday.
Dembowske was stabbed June 6th, and she died at the hospital.
On Monday, the Shepherd community held a birthday celebration for Adrie, and put on a carnival-style fundraiser.
It included games, a DJ, caricatures and food.
The organizer says they had already raised about $10,000 even before the event, but says every little bit helps.
“In a tragic situation like this there are expenses that you don’t grasp until you are in the situation,” said Stacey Bailey, who organized the fundraiser.
The event runs until 8 p.m. Monday at the Eight-2-Eight rental hall in Shepherd.
