Implantable device can resolve sleep apnea

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – Between 50-to-70 million Americans suffer from sleep disorders, the most common of which is a condition called obstructive sleep apnea.
”All night snoring. Oh, God, it’s terrible,” said Carlos Galvez who has struggled with the condition for years.
”It’s been difficult because I was unable to sleep because he’d stop breathing so it was really hard,” said his wife, Adriana Galvez.
When the benefits of surgery a few years ago didn’t last, Galvez had to rely on a C-Pap machine, which he couldn’t tolerate.

For Alyca Reynolds, Yolo County’s “Steps to Success” diversion program offered more than just a dismissed court case.
“It helped me get out of an abusive situation with my family,” Reynolds said of the program, part of the county’s Neighborhood Court restorative justice model.
Arrested in 2018 on battery and threats charges, Reynolds got a chance at redemption through Steps to Success. She says its teachings also gave her the courage to move to another state, where she’s now writing a memoir about her life.
“You don’t have to stay where you’re planted, even if it seems like you should,” Reynolds said.
