THE GOVERNMENT HAS said there remains an “increased risk” to Irish vessels fishing off Rockall in the North Atlantic after engagement with Scottish authorities.
A statement this evening from the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine comes three days after a Donegal fishing vessel was prevented from fishing in the waters around Rockall by a Marine Scotland patrol boat.

Meanwhile Irish politicians have lashed out after a fishing boat was boarded by UK officials close to Rockall in the North Atlantic - with one saying it was time to make a stand . The Parliamentary petition had been signed by 26,193 people as of 1.40pm. Because it has more than 10,000 names to it, the Government will be required to make an official response. If if attracts more than 100,000 signatures, it will trigger an automatic debate.
