One death is too many
In Bladen County, the initial fear of the virus quickly turned into strategy. The county’s health and human services officials increased their social media presence. Informing residents was an immediate priority.
The agency s Facebook page is still updated daily to show the latest cases in the county.
“We worked with the local media here as well as updating our Facebook page to get correct information out about the coronavirus,” said Terri Duncan, the health department’s director. “We used social media to keep our population apprised of what our cases are. There’s no information that’s posted on our Facebook page daily that’s not already on DHHS website. It’s just easier to find.”
