Donovan: Bajefit progressing despite weather

July 1, 2021 Even though the Bajefit program continues to attract many participants across the length and breadth of Barbados, coordinator Adrian Donovan said the inclement weather had resulted in a few sessions being rained out. The longstanding administrator said that despite the bad weather conditions affecting Barbados, organisers will continue to ensure that members of the public can enjoy these sessions where possible Donovan spoke after Tuesday’s session conducted by National Sports Council instructor Cosmo Edwards at King George V Memorial Park. “While the Bajefit program continues to gather momentum across the length and breadth of the island, the rain on occasion has caused a few setbacks. In fact, with the passing of a tropical depression that brought about inclement weather we were always looking to the skies and hoping for the best.

The recently launched Bajefit programme has been receiving great response with a large number of individuals from several communities across Barbados taking part, says coordinator of the event Adrian Donovan.Under the theme Keeping the Community Alive, Donovan said the programme which is organised by the National Sports Council (NSC) and the Youth Development Programme commenced Monday, June 7, and has so far covered every parish.“We have been receiving some high turn outs especially in the parishes of St. Phillip and St. George. As expected, some venues started with low numbers and are expected to pick up in the coming weeks,” Donovan told Barbados TODAY.

Past students, community chip in to clean St Lawrence Primary Article by April 22, 2021 Old scholars of St Lawrence Primary School, Christ Church joined with area residents Wednesday to cleanse the plant of volcanic ash, readying the school for attendance on Monday when the new term starts. Prominent resident Adrian Donovan told  Barbados TODAY  just hours after the clean-up began that the team intended to clean the interior and exterior of rooms, roof and open areas, in an effort to “assist the Ministry of Education in their cleaning up process”. He said: “So whenever the school is given permission to reopen, we hope that St Lawrence will be ready and we are doing everything in our power to make sure that it is ready. We have to thank Simmons Electrical, they readily gave assistance for all electrical issues. We also got assistance from our Member of Parliament Mr Ralph Thorne who rented a power wash machine for us for the entire day.
