The Enoch Mgijima Local municipality says it plans to meet Eskom management in January over its nearly R1bn debt after the power utility implemented “load reduction” to the area on top of rolling blackouts being experienced by the rest of the country.
A group of desperate business people in Komani who have been affected by an electricity outage for 18 days and counting, have offered to pay a contractor owed by the Enoch Mgijima municipality. However, their offer was rejected by officials in the municipality, after the group visited the technical services department to inquire what was going on.
