Social workers deserve more praise for work during Covid-19 pandemic

Cath McEvoy-Carr, executive director of adult social care and children s services with former councillor Wayne Daley, deputy leader and cabinet member for children’s services. Social workers haven’t had the same recognition as other professions for their ‘sterling and stoic’ work during Covid-19, a Northumberland council boss has said. At the meeting of the county council’s family and children’s services committee, executive director Cath McEvoy-Carr reiterated her thanks for the staff ‘who have worked tirelessly through this pandemic’. “They are a group of staff who don’t get that recognition – our support staff, admin staff, social workers, residential staff and foster carers – who have worked tirelessly and stoically to deliver services to our most vulnerable children,” she continued.
