FULTON â Former three-term, Democratic County Legislator Frank Castiglia has decided to throw his hat into the political ring again and will be on the November ballot hoping to defeat incumbent Ralph Stacy Jr. for the countyâs 25th District seat.
âI enjoy representing the people. Thatâs why Iâm getting back into it,â Castiglia said in a recent interview. âIâm a people person not a party person.â
Castiglia served as a Fulton representative to the county legislature from 2014 to 2020 elected to three consecutive terms.
âI promised three terms. I did three terms,â he said. âBut, watching whatâs going on, I donât see any accountability being held up there (in the legislature) by anybody. I feel that we need accountability and that District 25 needs a true voice in actually whatâs going on, not whatâs being reported in the papers.â

OSWEGO â The 2021 spending and revenue plan adopted by Oswego County lawmakers Thursday night is set to cut property taxes by about 3 percent.
The Oswego County Legislature approved the more than $213 million spending plan by a vote of 23-2, with unanimous support from the Republican super majority and opposition from the legislature s two Democrats. The generic tax rate will fall to $7.48 per $1,000 of assessed value under the spending plan, a 2.9 percent decrease from the $7.70 in the 2020 plan.
Owners of a property valued at $100,000 would pay roughly $748 in county property taxes, a savings of about $22 from the $770 the same property owner would have paid in the current year. The $7.48 per $1,000 rate does not include town, village, city or school taxes, and actual property tax rates can vary in each municipality based on a variety of factors.
