Pensacola residents could see a stormwater fee increase for the next two years
Pensacola residents could see an increase in their annual stormwater fee charged by the city.
The Pensacola City Council voted unanimously Thursday night to take the first action required to increase the stormwater fee that appears on residents property tax bills each year.
The fee pays for the city s stormwater ponds, street sweeping and the maintenance of stormwater drainage systems that prevent pollution and trash from flowing into waterways during a storm.
The stormwater fee, which ranges from $31 to $110, is calculated by the city using what s called an equivalent stormwater unit based on the square footage of impervious material on a property.
