Budget committee Chair Joe Sabatini said he is pleased with the overall outcome, with the general fund an approximately 5% increase from his year despite county-employee average salary increases of 6%.
One caveat that some commissioners complained about was that the authority must be approved and have a meeting by Dec. 31 in order to be eligible for state funds to help with projects.
The county Board of Commissioners’ Finance, Budget and Audit Committee conducted its annual meeting to add or subtract expenditures from the proposed $322-million 2024 budget proposed by County Executive Mark Hackel before final approval of the $1.1 total billion budget next Monday.
Purcell, an Army veteran, said he was honored to receive the award named after his friend and cohort, Daniels, who was the first recipient in 2019 and was in attendance for the recognition.
