Interested in the politics of food and the intersection between food and politics. Absolutely. You cannot show up at the white house and then get interested in politics. Think it started very early on in my cookie career. , well, thetraining actual story that really rocked it mean was i was trained in vienna. We were making a rhubarb sauce. The sous chef was training me. Yankee, blend the rhubarb and then get a bunch of butter blended and make your sauce. I took a huge amount of butter. He looked at me and said, i said a lot of butter. I took a whole mother thing of butter in blended it in. Then he used profanity which i will not repeat. He took a huge dean put it in and blended it. Friendse of my dearest am the best chess. Outaid if the guest walks and drops that of a heart attack, that is not my problem, they asked me to make the food taste good. Aboutlly struck me what are the implications of what i am cooking and putting in my food have on the people i am serving . It is not take l
Hes going to speak directly to the American People about the potential for limited military action in syria. Hes going to do that at 9 00 tonight. As i said last night, its appropriate to allow other conversations to go on. We now have, as a result of some work done by other countries, france, russia, and we understand syria is involved in this, this is aimed at avoiding military action. Well have to see if this works out. Very important to understand that the only way russia is seeking to avoid military, the president obama has made it clear the its will act if we must. Our credible threat of force has made these diplomatic discussions with syria possible. And the United States should withdraw from the direction were taking as a country. If theres a realistic chance and i hope there is to secure syrias chemical weapons to avoid further atrocities of the assad regime, we should not turn our back. But the regime must quickly prove their offer is real, not a ploy to delay military action
It and ask you if this is a direct quote. It is not enough to simply have a catchy ad and then do it every monday. We need to do this every monday of the week and really brainwash people into thinking about guns in a vastly different way. Is that it . That is taken of context. I was talking about black men, and at the time, washington, d. C. , was the murder capital. The glorified the use of the guns, and what i was saying is we need to counter those images, and i used the term brainwash to get them to think differently about the use of guns. Do you think the aggressive prosecution of gun crimes as part of the answer as well is part of the answer as well . Serves as a deterrence to using firearms and committing other crimes . Absolutely. I also think preventing people from acquiring guns and using them in inappropriate ways i as a superior court judge, i saw an ocean of young black men who should have been a feature of this community go to this jail because they have guns, used them in
Recent developments in north korea most notably the february 12, 2013 nuclear test and the december 12, 2012 missile test highlight the growing threat that north korea poses to the United States, our allies and friends in the region, and the increasing dangers of severe instability on the Korean Peninsula. Given this growing threat i believe that this committee needs to take a close look at current u. S. Policy towards north korea; evaluate its effectiveness; and identify any midcourse corrections or new measures that are required to get our north korea policy right. I understand that as we convene this hearing this morning that up in new york the United Nations Security Council is sitting down, right now, to consider a resolution that imposes additional sanctions on north korea. This new Security Council resolution, based on a u. S. China draft, includes tough new sanctions intended to impede north koreas ability to develop further its Illicit Nuclear and Ballistic Missile programs. T
For decades, u. S. Courts have allowed Law Enforcement to conduct aerial surveillance without a warrant. This is that sort of open spaces doctrine. Im not saying it makes it right but the government has been doing it for decades. Some of the courts have apparently ruled that what a person does in the open, even behind a back yard fence, can be seen from a passing airplane and is not protected by privacy laws. You know, i dont think i agree with that. If youre swimming in your pool in your back yard, if youre in your hot tub in your back yard, just because we have the technology to be able to see you in your hot tub, does that really mean they have a right to look at what you are doing in your back yard, so i dont really accept that. I think it has been abused and something that really we should be fighting against the surveillance state. Advocates say predators are simply more effective than other planes. Flying out of earshot and out of sight, a predator bee can watch a target for 20
