Fifteen months after the crippling Amathole district municipality strike action in 2020, which left a trail of destruction when municipal assets valued at over R20m were vandalised, a group of almost 20 union members are in hot water and face a disciplinary hearing. The group of 18 South African Municipal Workers Union-aligned officials have been charged for their alleged involvement in an illegal strike action from November 9 to December 21.
